September 8 - Classes Begin!
October 6 - 17: Heartland Ballet: Fancy Footwork - The Story of Ballet. 30 presentations, sponsored by the Dubuque Arts Council.
November 17 -21: Observation Week - Limited Audience
November 24 - 28: Fall Recess (Thanksgiving: Nov. 27.)
December 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21: Dubuque City Youth Ballet performs The Nutcracker; Grand Opera House!

Advanced - Evenings: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
Monday: Ballet Technique, Pointe, Pointe Variations
Tuesday: Modern (Horton Technique), Ballet Jumps and Spins
Wednesdays: Ballet Technique, Salsa!
Intermediate 1: Dancers who are entering their 3rd year and above, and girls who have not started Pointe.
Intermediate 2: Dancers who have completed at least one year of Pointe, or equivalent for boys.
Advanced: Dancers with four or more years of Pointe, or advanced training in other areas.
Male Students welcome in all levels!
Summer Ballet at the Academy of Ballet
Instructors for Summer Ballet 2008
Marina O’Rourke - Ballet Technique, Pointe, Pointe Variations; Director of the Academy of Ballet and the DCYB/Heartland Ballet, Marina has BFA from Oklahoma University in Ballet Pedagogue, with extensive training from the International School of Dance in Cannes, France, with renown master teacher, David Howard, and many prominent teachers from around the world. She has choreographed and staged a multitude of ballets - traditional and original, and worked many musicals from middle school to university.
Megan MacLeod - Ballet Technique, Pointe, Pointe Variations, Salsa; Megan is an Instructor and Artist-in-Residence at the Academy of Ballet. She graduated with highest honors form the University of Iowa in 2004 with a BFA in Dance and a BA in Classics. Megan began her training at the Academy. She has studied with Basil Thompson, Jeffery Bullock, Armando Duarte, Alan Sener and Charlotte Adams. Megan was recently featured in the title role: Giselle. She is choreographer for the Washington VPA program for the third year, staging State Fair.
Katherine Quann - Modern (Horton Technique) Ballet Jumps and Spins; Katherine is an instructor at the Academy of Ballet. Her training began at age 6 at the Academy. She continued her dance training while at Creighton University under the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) and the ISTD (Imperial Society for Teacher’s Dancing.) She graduated Sum Cum Laude with a BA in Spanish and History, and took her pre-professional RAD and ISTD exams and passed with a grade of “Superior.” Katherine staged Act Two in our recent production of Giselle.
Molly Ann Terwilliger - Jazz, Hip/Hop; Molly is a popular young dancer at the Academy, graduating this spring. Along with her ballet training, Molly Ann has studied three summers at the American Academy of Ballet, Mignon Furman Director, NY, studying jazz with Heather White, and the past two summers as a scholarship student at the Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts in Connecticut, studying with Jonathan Angelucci. She is a dance major at the University of Alabama/Tuscaloosa. As a strong ballet technician, she will give a unique approach to contemporary dance.
